As part of passenger amenities, Retiring Rooms are provided at important/tourist/pilgrim stations over Indian Railways. Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, has announced in his Budget Speech that the booking of Retiring Rooms will be made online in a phased manner for the convenience of passengers so as to enable them to book retiring rooms in advance according to their itinerary.
In compliance of the Budgetary announcement made by the Hon’ble Minister for Railways, South Central Railway launches e-booking of Retiring Rooms at the following stations, in the first phase, with effect from 25th September, 2014:
1. Hyderabad
2. Parli Vaijnath
3. Warangal
4. Kurnool City
5. Nizamabad
6. Basar
7. Vijayawada
8. Tenali
9. Rajahmundry
10. Gudur
11. Nellore
12. Tirupati
13. Renigunta
14. Raichur
15. Guntur
16. Nandyal
17. Nanded
18. Aurangabad
E-booking of retiring rooms at Secunderabad has already been started as a pilot project earlier and is continuing to function.
Advance booking of retiring rooms at the above stations can be done through internet on a confirmed /RAC reserved ticket, during the reservation period (advance booking period) by logging on www.irctctourism.com.
The following are the main features of the above scheme:
(i) Advance booking of retiring rooms is permitted only on confirmed/RAC tickets and not on waitlisted tickets.
(ii) Booking of retiring rooms is not allowed on UTS/Printed Card ticket in advance. However, a genuine passenger holding such general ticket for more than 500 Km will be allowed to avail this facility at the railway station only, subject to availability.
(iii) Booking of retiring rooms will be permitted for a period of 12 hours or 24 hours as per need
and in any case not more than a period of 48 hours.
(iv) On one reserved (PRS) ticket not more than three retiring rooms can be booked.
(v) In case of all the retiring rooms are booked, the passengers having confirmed tickets desiring to avail retiring room facility will be provided with a waitlist number which will automatically be updated in case of any cancellation.
(vi) On cancellation of ticket, the booking of retiring rooms shall automatically get cancelled.
(vii) The cancellation of booking of retiring rooms will attract cancellation charges as under:
(viii)If the passenger does not turn up within one hour of the actual arrival of the train, the Retiring Room Supervisor may release the booked room in favour of the next passenger in the waiting list provided the waitlisted passenger turns up within one hour of the actual arrival of train.
(ix) The mode of refund will be same as the mode of payment.
(x) Passenger who book the retiring room needs to carry any one of the following photo ID cards:

- Deduction of 10% of the amount paid for booking in advance of 48 hours of the day of occupation.
- Deduction of 50% of the amount paid for booking within a period of less than 48 hours of the day of occupation.
- No refund on cancellation on the day of occupation.
(viii)If the passenger does not turn up within one hour of the actual arrival of the train, the Retiring Room Supervisor may release the booked room in favour of the next passenger in the waiting list provided the waitlisted passenger turns up within one hour of the actual arrival of train.
(ix) The mode of refund will be same as the mode of payment.
(x) Passenger who book the retiring room needs to carry any one of the following photo ID cards:
- Voter ID Card
- Passport
- PAN Card
- Driving License,
- Photo ID issued by Central/State Government
- Student ID Card with photograph
- Nationalized bank’s passbook with photograph
- Credit Card issued by banks with laminated photographs.
