The Unique Identification Card ‘Aadhaar’ has been incorporated as one of the Proofs of Identity acceptable for undertaking the journey on E-Tickets as well as tickets booked under Tatkal Scheme over Indian Railways.
With this, the number of Proofs of Identity which are accepted on Indian Railways for undertaking journey on e-tickets as well as tickets booked under Tatkal Scheme will become nine.In addition to ‘Aadhar Card’, the other eight Proofs of Identity already accepted are :
- Voter Photo Identity Card issued by Election Commission of India.
- Passport
- PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department
- Driving License issued by RTO
- Photo Identity Card issued by Central/State Government
- Student Identity Card with photograph issued by recognized school/college for their students.
- Nationalized Bank Passbook with photograph
- Credit Cards issued by Banks with laminated photographs.
